Lee

Lee Roy Selmon's lifestyle is a combination of football scholarship, family work and community involvement. One of the first things he did is to help his family. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. He and his wife raised nine children on an Eufala farm. Also, he was one of three siblings who represented Oklahoma in football. Three of them made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey was a starter for the entire 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the top offensive lineman in United States by Outland and Lombardi Awards. For the three seasons that Roy was on the field, Oklahoma won two National Championships. He received a third scholarship in 1975 and selected as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon received a degree in education. Lee Roy's fourth time of service consisted of ten hours a week as a volunteer in the college. After college, he moved in Tampa and played nine years with the Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro 3 times. After that, he began his career. In 1988, as an account representative at First Florida Bank of Tampa, he worked with Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of America's top 10 young men. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs when he was a student athlete. He was captain of the team in 1975. In 1993, he was named assistant director of the University of South Florida. Selmon has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented the Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
