Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin (born Winnipeg, raised in Wellington) is an Canadian actress. Born in Winnipeg and born in Wellington Paquin was able to make her acting debut as Flora McGrath in the romantic drama film The Piano for which she was awarded the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at the age of 11, making her the second-youngest winner to win an award within Oscar history. The character as Flora McGrath - the daughter of the Scottish mute pianist in New Zealand at mid-19th Century was a part she won when she attended an open audition. When she was nine years old the actress had no experience acting. When she moved to the United States, she became an adult. Paquin started her acting career in the midst of her childhood with a role of the Jane Eyre protagonist in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre as well as a major part of Fly Away Home. Paquin appeared as Frankie Addams in a 1997 TV movie adaptation of Carson McCullers's novel The Member of the Wedding and also played a part as Queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997). She played teenagers as teenagers in Hurlyburly (1998) She's All That (1999) as well as A Walk on the Moon (1999) and portrayed the groupie Polexia Aphrodisa on the screen in Almost Famous (2000).
