Time magazine named her one of the top 100 influential people around the globe in 2006 and 2015, and Forbes listed her as one of the World's 100 Most Powerful Women in 2021 and 2019. Forbes named her the world's most powerful actress in 2021. Her net worth is believed to be $400 million. Witherspoon first appeared on screen in 1991 when she was an untrained teenager. In 1999, Witherspoon made her first breakthrough in the role of a supporting role in Cruel Intentions. She was also famous for her portrayal of Tracy Flick as Election's black comedy. Her performances in Legally Blonde (2001 and its sequel 2003) as well as in Sweet Home Alabama (2002 ) brought her greater recognition. She was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of June Carter Cash in the musical biopic Walk the Line. Following a slump in her career that included Water for Elephants (2011) was her only box office success, Witherspoon decided to make an appearance and produced and play Cheryl Strayed, the drama Wild (2014).
